Robert Gene "Bob" Midyett

Robert "Bob" Gene Midyett of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 in St. Louis at the age of 90 years and 26 days. Bob was born October 28, 1933 at Huzzah, Missouri to Ernest Leonard Midyett and Irma Mattie Kehner Midyett.
Bob graduated from Steelville High School in 1952 where he lettered in basketball, softball and track. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Louise Brown on May 15, 1954 at the Steelville First Baptist Church and to this union one son and one daughter were born. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Steelville serving as a deacon and different committees for many years along with he and his wife, Kathryn directing the Senior Adult Saints Alive group and driving the church bus. Together, Bob and his wife redecorated the Cooper House for missionaries.
Bob was employed several years as a truck driver for Budig Western. He loved working on his cars and keeping them clean along with working in his yard. For many years, he brought news ads to many of his fellow church members, friends and neighbors. Bob and his wife, Kathryn, were named Citizens of the Year in 1991 from the Steelville Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Irma Midyett; his wife, Kathryn Midyett; three brothers, Earl (Rosalee) Midyett, Bill (Ella Mary) Midyett and Harry Midyett; two sisters, Lorraine Street and Louise (Gilbert) Turnbough; and brother-in-law, Gail Biggs.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Robert "Bob" (Karen) Midyett of Byrnes Mill, MO; and daughter, Michele Kinney of Florissant, MO; 4 grandchildren, Christopher (Jenny) Midyett of Fenton, MO, Patrick (Katie) Midyett of Bennington, Nebraska, Kristin Kinney of Florissant, MO and Justin ( Kristen) Kinney of Florissant, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Karlee (Stephen) Sutton, Tyler Midyett and Anna Midyett and Emma, Cadence, Malachi and Kelton Kinney; one great-great-grandchild, Raiden Sutton; sisters-in-law, Sue Biggs of Wildwood, MO and Shirley Brown of Eureka, MO; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday, Decemeber 2, 2023 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 with Dr. Rick Haggett officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace" and "It is Well With My Soul" was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Brown Cemetery, Steelville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Bob's names to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society in care of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.
