Robert Stephen "Bob" Monnens

Robert "Bob" Stephen Monnens, age 77, of Pierz, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lavonne Monnens.

He is survived by his siblings, Tom (Linda), Rick (Ann), Paul (JoAnn), Lynn (Will Stier), and Tim (Lynn); 12 nieces and nephews and their families; and many friends and relatives that love, admire, and appreciate Uncle Bob.

Bob was born in Shakopee, Minnesota on January 12, 1948. He grew up in the country outside of Shakopee where he developed lifelong qualities of hard work and practicality. Bob went to Shakopee High School where he excelled in multiple sports.

Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. After returning from the service and attending college at Minnesota State Mankato, he began a successful career at Warrington.

His independent spirit and championship bowler pedigree led Bob into business for himself. He ran Crosby Cuyuna Lanes for a number of years. Family and friends were often invited for all night bowling at the lanes in Crosby. Next, pursuing his love of scuba diving, Bob opened a dive shop on the island of Bequia in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Bob loved island life and his business Sun Sports, he stayed for 10 years.

Bob loved softball, playing cards, the blues, fishing, his dogs Babe, Blue and Ruby, and having a pile of friends and family enjoy his place on Lake Sullivan. The memories of summers at the lake for Bob's family are treasures for multiple generations - fishing openers, tubing, skiing, softball weekend, Crolf, 500, Star Wars, Old Yeller, wiffle ball, Yahtzee, Little Mexico, boat cruises, and huge meals on the porch.

Bob was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
