Robert H. Mundrane, age 88, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Born in Woodbridge, NJ on November 4, 1936, Robert was the younger son of the late Richard and Jennie G. (Jackson) Mundrane. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1961, receiving several commendations, including one for his instrumental role in locating a missing nuclear missile from another U.S. vessel.

Following his honorable discharge, Robert began a career at Capital Airlines, which later became United Airlines. His dedication to passengers and commitment to service earned him multiple accolades. With a strong interest in science, Robert pursued coursework in chemistry at Seton Hall University and went on to work as a chemist at Johnson & Johnson. Throughout his career, he contributed to the development of numerous well-known products, including the Clean & Clear skincare line and Band-Aids, before retiring.

A man of deep faith, Robert was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hightstown, NJ, for nearly 40 years. After relocating to Delaware, he continued his devotion at St. Joseph Parish in Middletown. He prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Rosary daily, grounding his life in prayer and compassion. Robert was also an enthusiastic sports fan, never missing a Notre Dame or New York Giants football game and faithfully supporting the New York Mets each baseball season. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures-especially a good steak paired with a glass of cabernet sauvignon-and cherished trips to Atlantic City with his beloved wife, Dolores.

He will be remembered most for his generous spirit, quick wit, and deep love for his family. His quiet acts of kindness-like driving a neighbor's daughter to her early morning job each day without seeking recognition-were simply part of who he was. Robert leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and humility that he instilled in his twin daughters. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kimberly Mundrane-Tuohy; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Jean Mundrane, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dolores (Gonzales) Mundrane; daughter, Mary Mundrane-Zweiacher (Greg); grandsons, Kyle Tuohy (Laura), Kurtis Tuohy, and Lee Zweiacher; great-grandsons, James and Finley Tuohy; and many nieces and nephews.
