Robert "Bob" Eugene Myers, 87, of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of
Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Bob was born March 25, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Willard and Laura Devine Myers. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith "Judy" Ann Reese Myers, and brothers, John Myers and Gary Myers.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Tamara (Jeffrey) Steinbrook of Salem, Indiana, and Pamela (Michael) Lonas of Newnan, Georgia. Bob was a proud grandfather to Amy (Dennis) Gabler, Brandon (Heather) Steinbrook, Shannon (Zach) Enos, Michael R. (Caitlin) Lonas, and Jessica (Zak) Seddon; and a devoted great-grandfather to Carter Steinbrook, Audra Gabler, Raegan Steinbrook, Porter Gabler, Jovie Enos, Caelan Enos, and Anna Seddon. He also leaves behind two brothers, Ronald Myers and Mark Myers.
Bob graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Industrial Management. His impressive and accomplished career reflected a lifelong dedication to innovation, leadership, and excellence in manufacturing.
He began his professional journey as a Journeyman Bricklayer and Tool and Die Maker before serving as an Associate Engineer at Western Electric. Over the years, Bob rose through leadership roles that included Supervisor at Ford Motor Company, RCA, and CBS Records; Industrial Engineer and Superintendent of Manufacturing at RCA; Director of Manufacturing at CBS Records; Plant Manager at CBS Records; and ultimately, Vice President of Manufacturing for Sony Music and Senior Vice President of Sony Disc Manufacturing for North and South America.
Throughout his career, Bob oversaw the production and development of a wide range of products, from televisions, telephones, and steering gears to compact discs and cutting-edge magnetic media. His leadership extended beyond the plant floor, serving on committees dedicated to research, product development, and new technology for Sony's international manufacturing operations.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bob was deeply committed to his community and to service. He was a member of Carrollton First Methodist Church and gave generously of his time and talents through numerous civic and charitable organizations. He served as Chairman of the Carroll County Literacy Task Force and as a volunteer mentor, helping countless adults achieve literacy. His civic involvement included leadership roles in Rotary (Past Director), the Elks (Past Exalted Ruler), Masons, Carroll Tech Foundation (Past Director), Tanner Memorial Center Board of Directors and Hospital Authority, Carroll County School Foundation, the West Georgia Antique Automobile Club (Past President), West Georgia Business Leaders Association (Past President), and Sahara Grotto (Past President). He also served on the Board of Visitors at the University of West Georgia.
Bob's many honors reflect his tireless dedication to others, including the Thousand points of Light honoree by George HW Bush, President's Award from the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Industry Leadership Award, Elk Citizen of the Year,
Rotary Paul Harris Award, Sertoma Service to Mankind Award, and numerous recognitions for community service and business leadership. Among his proudest distinctions were being named Citizen of the Year, Businessman of the Year, and Carroll County's "Boss of the Year."
An Eagle Scout with five palms, Bob lived by the principles of integrity, service, and perseverance. He was a lifelong learner, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and a man whose legacy of leadership and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 5 PM – 7 PM at Almon Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11 AM at Carrollton First Methodist Church. A reception will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall.
