Robert Babajan Neesan
June 7, 1950 – January 5, 2026
Robert Babajan Neesan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 5, 2026. He was born on June 7, 1950, in Baghdad, Iraq, the youngest of eleven children, and lived a life defined by devotion to family, faith, and hard work.
At the age of 17, Robert joined the Army, serving his country first as a soldier for two years and later as a cook for five years. In 1978, seeking a better future, Robert immigrated to the United States with his brother Richard. Their journey took them first to Jordan for three months, before joining their brother Sammy and sister Margaret in Richmond, California. While living in Richmond, Robert worked diligently for an olive company and a grocery store, building the foundation for his life in America.
In July of 1984, Robert's sister Khatoon introduced him to the love of his life, Lorin Esmaili. Their connection was immediate and enduring. Robert and Lorin were married in November of 1984 and began a life centered on love, family, and shared values. They welcomed their daughter, Nahrain, in 1985, followed by their son, Ninos, in 1987.
The family moved to Turlock, California, in 1990, where Robert worked as both a baker and a cook, trades that reflected his love for food, hospitality, and caring for others. In 2011, Robert and his family relocated to
Bakersfield, California, where he continued to enjoy time surrounded by those he loved most, his Grandchildren.
Robert was the consummate family man, pouring his heart and soul into raising his children and later dedicating himself wholeheartedly to his grandchildren. He was a truly loving and devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend. Robert found joy in cooking, spending time with family, and faithfully supporting his church, Mar Addai, Assyrian Church of the East in Turlock, California; after moving to Bakersfield, he continued his devotion by supporting St. George Greek Orthodox Church. His life was a testament to selflessness, quiet strength, and unwavering love.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Lorin Neesan; his daughter, Nahrain Antonaros, and son-in-law, Matthew Antonaros; his grandchildren, Nikolas, Michael, and Charlotte Antonaros; his son, Ninos Neesan, and daughter-in-law, Brandi Neesan; and his grandchildren, Elyssa and Addyson Lee. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his extended family and all who were blessed to know him.
Robert's legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely.
