Loving husband of Yesenia (nee Herrera) Nelson; proud and loving father of Robert IV and Valerie Nelson; beloved son of Robert A. Nelson II and the late Carol S. Nelson nee Ruiz; loving brother of James (Melinda), Carolyn (Shaun Brady), Michael (Nubia), and the late Gregory Nelson; and caring uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.
Robert was a loving father and cherished spending time with his family; especially outings with his daughter and video gaming with his son. He will be remembered as a mentor, soccer coach, and dedicated Chicago sports fan.
Visitation Friday March 6, 2026, from 3 - 8 PM at Hickey Memorial Chapel 2429 W. 127th St Blue Island, IL 60406. 10:30 AM Prayer Service Saturday March 7, 2026, at Hickey Memorial Chapel going to St Walter Church for a 11 AM Funeral Mass. Cremation Private. www.hickeyfuneral.com
