In Loving Memory
Robert Maxfield "Nick" Nicholas
Robert Maxfield "Nick" Nicholas passed away peacefully on September 4, 2022 at the age of 93. Born on March 29, 1929 in Seattle.
He is survived by his wife Arlene Nicholas, whom he was married to for 71 years, daughter Karen Van Soest, and sister Louise and her husband DC Bush, 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many lifelong friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Bobby Nicholas, mother Karen Nordberg, father Richard Nicholas, sister Barbara Richardson, son-in-law John Van Soest, mother and father-in-law John and Lillian Miskulin.
Nick was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, friend, and grampa. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren called him "Papa". The family called him "The Billy Goat" as he was so active his whole life as he loved the outdoors.
Nick grew up in Ballard, WA, and he lived a full life enjoying Lake Goodwin in his early years, staying young at heart wintering on Maui for 35 years, enjoying their property in Winthrop, many motorhome travels, and especially their property in Kettle Falls.
Nick was a Korean War Veteran who specialized in morse code during the war. He worked on the railroad for several years as a telegraph operator and then retired from John Fluke Manufacturing at 55 after 35 years.
You will be missed Papa.
