Robert Eugene "Bobby" Norman, Sr.

Robert Eugene "Bobby" Norman, Sr., age 89, of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Born on June 7, 1936, in Lincoln County, Georgia, Bobby lived most of his life in Greenwood but always carried a deep affection for Lincoln County and the homeplace that he grew up on. .

Bobby was a dedicated and hardworking man who made a significant impact in various fields throughout his career. He was co- owner of B & P Auto Parts and also worked the third shift at Matthews Textile Mill. Additionally, he delivered the Index Journal every afternoon for decades. He graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1954 and while he may not have had a degree from Harvard or any other post-secondary education, his prowess for business opportunities and his mathematic abilities were second to none. He often credited his third-grade math book of simple arithmetic as the foundation for his extensive knowledge in business however his childhood on the family farm was likely as much to credit as he was so knowledgeable in diverse areas including stocks, agriculture, automotive topics, and politics.

Bobby's personality was one of generosity, reliability, kindness, and honesty. He was a devoted family man who prioritized his loved ones, and he was known for his hard work and integrity. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, raising cattle, pigs, chickens, rabbits and growing muscadines. Myrtle Beach held a special place in his heart, as he delighted in visiting there several times a year and always took as many of his family members with him as possible.

Bobby joined Goshen Baptist Church at an early age and had attended faithfully for many years after his retirement. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1954 to 1961, demonstrating his commitment to service and duty.

Bobby is survived by his loving sons, Robert Eugene "Gene" Norman, Jr. of Atlanta, and Michael Anthony "Tony" Norman of Greenwood; his daughter, Sharon Francine "Fran" Craddock and husband, Greg of Anderson; his sisters, Alicia Norman Partridge and Patricia Norman Martin; his grandchildren, Thomas Richard Whitt III, Mary Elizabeth Norman, Jennifer Leigh Norman, Lauren Ashley Brown, and Elena May Sparrow; as well as his great-grandchildren, Zoey Alyse Norman, Bryson Avry Brown, Zachariah Eugene Norman, and Keiran Rhys Norman.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Mary Frances Mars Norman; parents, Leonadis Cullars "Lonnie" and Ella Mae Wellmaker Norman; his brothers, Roy W. Norman, Charlie C. Norman, Julius Norman, and Lawrence Norman; and his sisters, Myrtle Dent, Louise Crook, Lessie Mae Young, and Ruby Walton.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 5PM to 7PM at Beggs Funeral Home located at 200 May Ave, Lincolnton, GA. A funeral service will take place the following day, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 2PM at Goshen Baptist Church, 1236 Goshen Church Road, Lincolnton, GA with interment following in the church cemetery.

Bobby's legacy of kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to his family and community will leave a lasting impact, and he will be deeply missed.
