Robert "Bob" Nye

In the early morning hours of Monday, December 15, 2025, Robert L. Nye peacefully closed his eyes to this life. He was 89 years old.
Bob, as he was lovingly known by all, was born in Watertown, New York, the oldest of four children of Howard and Lea (Geyh) Nye. In 1947, Bob's family relocated to Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where he attended Shrewsbury public schools. At an early age, he began working at the family business, Marlborough Foundry. Throughout his lifelong career at the foundry, Bob carried on his father's legacy of providing exceptional customer care and quality products. These values were passed on to the third and fourth generations of the Nye family, who continue to uphold Bob's legacy today.
At a young age, Bob met his future wife, a beautiful girl named Jacqueline (Casey). They were married on January 18, 1956, and soon after made their home in Northborough, where they raised their family. Bob and Jackie were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary next month.
Following his retirement in 2003, Bob and Jackie relocated to Nokomis, Florida. There, Bob continued to enjoy his love of golf. While living in Massachusetts, he played in the Tweeds League at Juniper Hill Golf Course. In Florida, he appreciated the year-round tee times and camaraderie on the greens at Calusa Lakes Golf Club. In 2015, the couple returned to New England to be closer to their beloved family and made their final home together in Mashpee.
Bob enjoyed an eclectic array of hobbies. In addition to golfing, he had a strong passion for photography, especially nature photography. He enjoyed developing his own film in his darkroom and sharing his work with family and friends. Bob was also a skilled competitive archer and treasured time spent on his boat with friends, cruising Sesuit Harbor in Dennis. While known for being set in his ways and capable of delivering a stern look when warranted, Bob was deeply loving and family-oriented. He and Jackie especially cherished holidays and celebrations spent with family and delighted in watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy time together.
In addition to his devoted wife, Jackie, Bob is survived by his three children: Kenneth B. Nye and his wife Lynn of Hubbardston, MA; Karl R. Nye and his wife Joanne of Sturbridge, MA; and Lori A. Nye and her husband Lee of Webster, MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren-Robert Cooney, Timothy Nye, Kelly Nye Bergeron, Jeffrey Nye, Christopher Nye, Erin Nye Waterman, Timathy Cooney Mulligan, and Sean Nye-and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. Bob was predeceased by his great-grandson, Torin Nye, and by his three siblings, Jane Nye, Walter Nye, and Joyce Nye.
