Robert O'Brien Obituary

O'BRIEN, Robert Joseph Sr., 94, of Williamsburg, Va., formerly of Richmond, Va., and Montgomery, Ala., passed away on September 6, 2012. Born on April 6, 1918, he was the son of Charles Raymond and Leah O'Brien of Haskell, N.J. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Pauline Sims O'Brien, in 2010. Mr. O'Brien attended the University of Michigan. During World War II, he worked as a TNT supervisor for Joliet Munitions. As an industrial engineer, he was employed by Crawford/Indian Head Manufacturing Company. Later, he served as the Vice President of the Alagold Corporation in Montgomery, Ala. In his spare time, he volunteered as a rescue squad dispatcher. He also helped form the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart, and was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Edwards. He is survived by his children, Robert J. O'Brien Jr. of Asheboro, N.C., Dr. James P. O'Brien (Mary Louise) of Norfolk, Va., Kathleen O'Brien Everett (Donald) of Richmond, Va., Patricia O'Brien Easterling of Farmville, Va., and Margaret O'Brien of Williamsburg, Va. Also surviving him are his seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg, Va. 23188. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Olaf Catholic Church Building Fund.

Dearest Maggie: How wonderful to have had your dad for 94 years. I remember how you cared for both your parents. Your love and devotion was well received I'm sure.You have been a devoted daughter.
