Robert "Bob" Oakland, 83, of Glenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at ThorneCrest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea, MN

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Service, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 4-6:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville.

Born on April 25, 1941, in Albert Lea, Robert was the son of the late Ruben and Igean (Trytten) Oakland. On November 30, 1968, Robert married the love of his life, Darlene Brevig, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Known for his work ethic, Robert, affectionately known as Bob, worked for various companies, including Queen's, Scotsman Ice Machine, Motor Supply, Interstate Packaging Inc., and Jim Nelson Trucking, where he drove trucks. His commitment to his work was unparalleled, often working seven days a week to provide for his loved ones. Bob was a devoted grandfather who cherished his grandchildren deeply and always made time for them. He had a lively spirit, often engaging in pranks and jokes, earning a reputation as a goofy and light-hearted soul.

A collector at heart, Bob had a passion for cars, dump trucks, old tractors, and metal scraps, which he enjoyed reselling and hauling to the junkyard. His resourceful nature allowed him to repair items with ingenuity and ensure they served their purpose effectively. Always full of energy, Bob lived life to the fullest, exuding a magnetic personality that drew people to him.

A proud "junker" and "scrapper," Bob had a keen eye for finding and salvaging metal wherever he went, a testament to his industrious nature. His constant pursuit of opportunities and his ability to make the most of every moment defined his character and left a lasting impact on those around him.

Those left to cherish Bob’s memory include two children, Lori Tuttle and Jason (Dessari) Oakland; grandchildren, Trevor, Kailee, Ellery (Sean), Grayson, and Paisley; great-grandchildren, Georgia, Garrett, and Gavin; and treasured friends, Walter and Becky Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Ruben and Igean, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Darlene (Brevig) Oakland; a sister, LaVonne “Bonnie”, and her husband, Curtis “Corky” Anderson; and several extended family members.
