Joyce L. Oakland

Joyce Louise Oakland (nee Bennett) passed away peacefully at her home in Covington, Louisiana on September 5, 2024, at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her husband William Horace Oakland, who was her loving companion for almost 50 years. Joyce was a graduate of the Tulane University School of Business who worked as a church book-keeper and then as office manager for Oakland Econometrics in New Orleans. When she wasn't spending time with her family, Joyce played golf, did needle-crafting, and played cards. She was an excellent cook who loved good food, single malt scotch and trying new restaurants. She is survived by her daughter Donna-Bea; her son William Henry, as well as his sons William, Leelond, and Patrick; her sister Janice Meyer; and her brother James Bennett. Joyce's Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, September 11th at 10 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery, Wilbraham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105 or to TJ O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
