Tamarack City: Robert "Bob" Olli, 71, of Tamarack City, passed away on August 1, 2023, at the Omega House in Houghton, after a courageous battle with duodenal cancer, with family by his side.
He was born on March 12, 1952, a son of Paul and Sylvia (Wetelainen) Olli. He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1970 to 1973, and was stationed at the Sheridan-Kaserne in Augsburg, Germany. He attended Ferris State College in 1974-1975, earning a degree in welding.
He worked at Isle Royale National Park, and later, Bob Wales Construction for a time. He returned to work at Isle Royale and worked as a local handy-man.
He was married to Bonnie (Stevens) in Bootjack on December 12, 1981.
He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #90. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making wine, reading, gunsmithing/reloading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends and at Camp SNAFU in Herman.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, infant daughter-Kendra Joy, and brother-Bill.
He is survived by: his wife-Bonnie, a son-Lucas (Becky), a sister-Lois (Bob) Meddaugh, 2 grandsons-Marshall and Mitchell; and numerous nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
The family wishes to thank the Marshfield Oncology Team, Robin and staff at Cattails Cottage, the Omega House, and Aspirus at Home.
Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. on Thursday August 10, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. The Military Rites service will begin at 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home conducted by American Legion Post #90.
