Rockwell City – Robert C. Olsen 69, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Chadric Dietrich officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Flag presentation by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until service time. Robert is survived by his wife Linda; son Darrin Olsen of Vinton and grandson Tyler; daughter Kelly (Keith) Kraft of Rockwell City; grandsons, Kanne (Kara) Kraft of Rockwell City, and Kwinn Kraft of West Des Moines; great-grandaughter Kamzie Kraft; brother Richard (Jill) Olsen of St. Charles, IL; and mother-in-law Lavon Weiss of Rockwell City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Ardyce (Toomer) Olsen. Robert Curtis Olsen was born September 2, 1947 at Storm Lake, Iowa. He graduated from Sac City High School. In 1965, Robert served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge in 1968, Robert attended University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a Bachelors degree. Robert worked for the State of Iowa in the Inspectors and Appeals Department. On December 31, 1985 he was united in marriage to Linda Arends in Las Vegas. In 1986, the couple established their home in Rockwell City. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing and going for rides with his best friend.
