Oppe, Robert
WATERFORD - Robert J. Oppe -74, of Waterford, N.Y. and formerly of Clearwater, Fla. died at home December 1, 2023 due to chronic health issues. Bob was born June 20, 1949 in Albany, N.Y.
He graduated from Milne in 1967 and attended Pratt Institute to study art. Bob traveled extensively before starting his career in the hospitality industry.
Bob moved to Florida in his 20's and continued in the hospitality industry holding many positions before retiring as a Bar Manager at Countryside Country Club in Florida. Bob also hosted a wine club and dinner parties and was a mentor to many. In 2015 Bob moved to Waterford to be closer to his daughter.
Bob is survived by his daughter Donna Simmons (Sam) of East Schodack, his brother Richard Oppe (Agnes) of Clearwater, Fla., his sister Nancy Carpenter (Robert) of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by his dog Heidi.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Herman and Marjorie (von Hagen) Oppe.
At the request of the family there will not be a public service, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
