Wilmington - Robert "Bob" Warren Orr, Sr., 87, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of unwavering faith, entered into the presence of his Savior on December 30, 2025 and was joyfully reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Diane Orr, just thirty days after her passing.
Born on March 9, 1938, in
Newport News, Virginia, he was the son of Thomas Warren Orr and Helen Trussel Orr. He graduated from Grainger High School in Kinston, North Carolina, and later attended Edwards Military Institute, where he was an honor student and earned a basketball scholarship.
He was married three times and was the proud father of four children. He was also a devoted grandfather to a grandchild whom he and his third wife lovingly raised as their own. Together, they dedicated their lives to serving their Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith and humble service to the church.
He will be remembered for his charismatic presence, warm smile, and approachable nature. He had a unique ability to make strangers feel like lifelong friends and was genuinely admired by all who knew him. A gifted storyteller and humorist, he brought joy to every gathering, always ready with a tale or a joke that perfectly suited the moment.
He was a talented athlete throughout his life, a State High School Football Champion, a collegiate basketball player, and an elite amateur golfer who regularly shot in the 60s during his prime. A passionate supporter of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, he followed his team faithfully, celebrating their triumphs and enduring their defeats with
steadfast loyalty.
His life was marked by devotion to faith, family, and fellowship. He lived in a manner that consistently pointed others toward Christ, and his legacy endures in the lives of those he touched. His memory will be cherished by his children, grandchild, church family, and all who were blessed to know his kindness, laughter, and enduring love.

He is survived by his four children: Kathy Orr (Mike) of Wrightsville Beach; Kevin Orr (Leigh) of Morehead City; Bob Orr Jr. (Jennifer) of Mooresville, NC; and Jimmy Orr of Greensboro, NC; as well as a combined total of extended family to include seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren with his late wife Diane. He is also survived by his brother, William Odem.
