Robert Emil Osgard, 86 years old, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, September 13th ,2025.

Born, July 29th, 1939, in St. Paul, MN to Robert Gordon Osgard and Elizabeth Scheer-Osgard. He grew up in the Minnesota North County with his 5 siblings: Bob, Janice, Mark, Ruth and Judy, graduating Grand Rapids HS in 1957.

Married Geraldine Dawn Smith and had two children, Robert Gordon (1962) and Michael James (1965).

Married Andresa Quezon Donayre, remaining with her until she peacefully passed January 2018. Mary Jane was born to them in 1975, Fernando Donayre joining the family with Andresa.

Robert entered the Marines in 1958. Then matriculated to the Air Force in October 1959 retiring as a Senior Master Sargeant in1987.

Bob's military adventures brought him to the Marine Corps training Center in San Diego and Pendleton California then to the Duluth 16th infantry company. He then joined the US Air Force, training at Keesler AFB, then taking an assignment to the Duluth Air sector. He then took an assignment in North Bay, Ontario then transferred to Sunnyvale California, he received further training in Kirtland New Mexico. He then deployed to Monkey Mountain Vietnam & SE Asia extending his tour in 1973 to Thailand finishing that tour August 1973. He began enlisted flight training at Eglin AFB in1974 then moved to Clark AFB Philippines. From the Philippines he moved to Keesler AFB, Mississippi then transferred to Woomera, Australia. In 1979 NORAD Colorado Springs and Reykjavik, Iceland and then finishing at Eglin AFB in Florida. He rose to his highest rank. He honorably separated from the Air force March 1, 1987. By the end of his service Robert completed 592 flight hours! A very rare achievement for an enlisted airman.

He earned numerous decorations:

Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force accommodation medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Air Force achievement medal, AF outstanding unit award with valor device, combat readiness medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, AF good conduct medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, Good conduct medal, National defense service medal, Armed forces expeditionary medal, Vietnam service medal, a bronze star, Humanitarian service medal, AF Overseas short tour ribbon with 2 oak leaf clusters, AF overseas long tour ribbon with 1 oak leaf cluster, AF longevity service award ribbon with 5 oak leaf clusters, NCO professional military education graduation ribbon, small arms expert marksmanship ribbon, Republic of Vietnam gallantry cross with device and one oak leaf cluster, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, National defense service medal, twice selected airman of the month, 3 AF commendation medals, missileman badge, 2 Air medals, Senior NCO of the Quarter at Norad and Sr. Airman of the year.

Robert spent his retirement years in Niceville, Florida: working for the city of Niceville, fishing, visiting with friends and family, telling stories to all who would hear. He finished his life with a strong feeling of contentment in that he served his country well and experienced many countries and cultures, making many friends along the way.

Robert is survived by Janice, Mark, Ruth, Robert, Michael, Mary and Fernando and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. `

Funeral Services will be held at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral home, 1405 E. John Sims Parkway, Niceville FL 32578.

Family Visitation 9:30-10:00, Open Visitation 10:00-11:00 Service 11:00, proceeding to Heritage Gardens Cemetery, Niceville, for full Military Internment 12:00.
