Robert Kent Packer, lovingly known as Kent, passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on June 19, 1947, in Robeson County, he was a lifelong resident of Bladenboro and was cherished for his wit, warmth, and curiosity, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Kent Packer was not a stranger to Bladenboro. With a quick wit and a love for knowledge, he was well known for his trivia questions that often sparked laughter, conversation, and friendly debate. When he wasn’t stumping others with trivia, you could likely find him on the golf course enjoying a round with friends or at a coin convention, pursuing his passion for collecting. A proud numismatist, Kent’s appreciation for history and detail came alive through his coin collection, a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life.

Dedicated to his community, Kent was a member of the Rotary Club for 10 years, where he valued service, fellowship, and making a positive impact.

Kent was devoted to his wife, Elizabeth Ann Packer, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and treasured memories.

He loved his church deeply and served faithfully as a deacon, finding great joy and purpose in his faith community. His faith guided his life and was evident in the kindness, generosity, and compassion he showed to others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarine and Robert Packer; his brothers, Freddie and Greg Packer; and his stepsister, Patti McArdle. He will be remembered for his love of learning, his hobbies, his faith, and his presence in the community he called home.

Kent is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann Packer; his daughter, Ashley Wolber, and her husband, Cedric; and two grandchildren who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on September 2nd at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3rd, at First Baptist Church, 500 South Main Street, Bladenboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to [First Baptist Church, 500 South Main Street, Bladenboro)

Kent’s legacy of curiosity, humor, kindness, and faith will live on in the stories, memories, and hearts of all who knew and loved him.
