Robert “Bob” Leroy Parker, born June 5, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness. Son of the late Leroy Parker and Mary Mae Thomas Parker, Bob was a devoted father to his daughters Mattie Roman and Marsha Going, Matthew Going, a proud grandfather to Juliet, Karen, and Alexis Smith, and a cherished great-grandfather to Cameron and Elena. He also shared a special bond with his beloved fur baby, Panther.
Bob was a lifelong Tar Heel fan, proudly declaring himself a Tar Heel supporter on Saturdays and a Panthers fan on Sundays. He was married to the late Gracie Ann Parker and earned a degree in Accounting from Midlands Tech, building a career in several accounting roles. His 21 years of service in the U.S. Army as an E7 Sergeant reflected his commitment and discipline.
A man of many interests, Bob enjoyed spending time on his computer, watching western films, and following sports. Renowned among family and friends for his exceptional grilling skills, he could prepare the most delicious steaks that made every gathering special. Above all, he treasured his family and was known for his kindhearted nature. Bob and his late wife, Gracie, will be laid to rest together at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, a testament to their enduring bond. His warmth and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
