Robert D Parman, (81), our beloved Pappy, of Brandon, MS, passed away on June 25, 2025.
Robert was born to Joseph and Ruth Ferguson Parman on August 6, 1943. He attended Jett School in Vicksburg and Port Gibson High School, graduating in 1961. He graduated from Co-Lin Junior College in 1963 and served in the National Guard for six and a half years. He worked as a draftsman for Texaco Corporation, a machinist gear maker at Marathon LeTourneau for twenty years and ultimately retired as a machinist from Waterways Experiment Station with twenty years of service.
Robert was a deacon and active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon. His faith, quiet humility, and gift of service influenced more lives than he recognized. He had numerous hobbies through the years including carving and woodworking and fishing. His retirement years were devoted to time with his family, especially his grandson. They spent countless hours exploring, fishing, swimming, and shooting. He really was the best Pappy.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Hennington Parman; daughter Becky Parman Combs (Darby); and grandson, Joey Combs (Camilla). He was looking forward to meeting and loving his great-grandson in September. He is also survived by his brothers, Joe Parman (Barbara) and Buddy Parman (Annell); sister, Alice Parman Sharp; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church, 546 Bethel Church Road, Brandon, MS. Visitation will begin at 9 AM with the service beginning at 10 AM. A family burial will take place at a later date.
