Robert Pascente Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Aug. 18, 2025.
Robert S. Pascente passed away peacefully on August 18th, just shy of his 96th birthday. Raised in Chicago, Illinois by Italian immigrant parents (Della and Sebastian) he was surrounded by only sisters, who endlessly doted on him.

After graduating from Loyola Academy Prep School, Robert attended DePaul University. It was there that he met Marlene Votava. In 1953 they married and began family life, eventually having 3 children: Steven, Susan, and Bob.

In 1988 the Pascente's moved to Phoenix, Arizona where youngest son Bob (who graduated from DeVry Institute) worked at Intel, and daughter Sue owned daycares. It is also where son, Steve, was an established Television Sportscaster. Steve's family included wife, Julie, and 3 children: Nicholas, Allyssa, and Danielle.

Robert had an especially close bond with his grandchildren. Early on, and forever after, they referred to one another as "Gramp The Champ & The Three Nerds," more specifically: Sir Nick, The Great One (Allyssa), and Princess Danielle. He was a lover of all kids, having volunteered at Sue's daycare driving kids in the van to and from school. "Mr. Bob," as they lovingly dubbed him, serenaded them with songs and was every kid's preferred driver.

A few years after Marlene's passing, Robert sold his home and moved to an independent living community. It was there that he met Vivian and they remained close ever since. Bob was an avid golfer, exploring the Valley's many new golf courses and taking full advantage of Arizona's sunny climate. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan; loyal to the end!

Robert S. Pascente lived a full life, rich in love, family, and laughter. His kindness, humor, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his partner Vivian, daughter Susan, son Robert and his partner Fran, daughter-in-law Julie, and grandchildren Nicholas (Ryan), Allyssa, and Danielle (Matthew). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Ari, Sienna, and Cole Steven, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Della and Sebastian Pascente; his wife, Marlene Pascente; his son, Steven Pascente; his sisters: Camille Parrilli (Angelo), Rose Freda (Dominic), Ruth Tito (Joseph "Buddy"), and Marie Carlson (Fred); daughter Susan's partner, Sara; and Julie's 2nd husband, Peter.
