Anneice Wright

Anneice Wright, 76, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 4, 2026.

Anneice was born on December 12, 1949, in Safford, Alabama, to the late George Williams and the late Leatha Williams née Moppins. She was raised as one of ten children in a large and loving family. At an early age, Anneice accepted Christ and was a devoted member of New Haven Church in Alabama until she later moved to Chicago.

Growing up in Safford, she carried with her the values of faith, perseverance, and devotion to family that shaped her life.

Anneice later made her home in Chicago, where she built a life centered on family and career. She was the beloved wife of Joe Leonard Wright, with whom she shared nearly fifty years of marriage.

Anneice was a devoted mother to Derek (Kacie) and Lakeshia. She was also a loving grandmother to Harriet and Leonard, who brought her immense joy.

She is survived by her siblings Charles Williams of Detroit, Michigan, Murleen Williams of Chicago, Illinois, and Eloise Shaw of Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her siblings Authoree, George, Florece, James, Bunnie, and Leophis. She is also survived by her aunt Lula Brown of Chicago, Illinois, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Anneice believed deeply in the power of education and perseverance. While raising her family, she pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, and a master's degree from Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana. Her determination and commitment to self-improvement served as an example to her children and to those who knew her.

She loved to travel and enjoyed experiencing new places and cultures, but nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her children and grandchildren.

A memorial visitation for Anneice will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the time of the memorial service at 10:00 AM at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Cremation is private.
