Robert E. Payne Sr., passed away on November 8, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on September 23, 1949, in Champaign, Illinois, he lived a life rich with experiences and accomplishments.
Robert was known for his deep love of the outdoors, which manifested in his hobbies of hunting and fishing. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was watching sports or spending quality time tinkering around the house. His family and friends were the cornerstones of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his beloved sons, Robert E. (Erica) Payne, Jr. and Eric (Amy) Payne. Robert took immense pride in his grandchildren, Gemma and Jock Jr., often sharing stories and laughter with them that will be cherished forever.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Mary Payne, who shaped his values and character throughout his life. Their legacy continues through the dedication he showed in caring for his family and friends.
A visitation in honor of Robert E. Payne Sr. will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. The visitation will begin at 5:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM, providing an opportunity for those who knew him to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
Robert E. Payne Sr. will be remembered as a devoted family man and a friend to many. His legacy of love and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
