Robert Phillips Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 8, 2024.
Robert (Bobby) Paul Phillips passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. He entered this life on September 1, 1954, firstborn son of Janice Horne Phillips and Avery Phillips in Anniston, Alabama where his love of Auburn University football had its roots. He grew up in Knoxville but returned to Alabama to attend Auburn, where he was a walk on and played defensive back for his beloved Tigers.
After graduating, Robert traveled with work and lived in several states before returning home to Knoxville. He began his career as a realtor and established Pinnacle Real Estate. He later became a contractor and established Robert P. Phillips Builders, where he developed several subdivisions in West Knoxville.
Robert married Kimberly Baldwin and was a loving husband and father to his daughters, Emily and Katie. He was also a loving son to his parents and supportive brother to his younger brother, Dan. Robert loved to cook, sing, dance, and travel with his family and friends. He was often larger than life, never met a stranger, and never shied away from a good debate. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Robert is survived by his wife, Kimberly; daughters, Emily and Katie; and father, Ellison Avery Phillips, Jr. (Ann Phillips). He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Janice and brother, Daniel Phillips.
A visitation will be held for Robert on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1pm with a funeral service to follow at 3pm at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike. The Rev. Mark Steimer will officiate. A graveside service will be at 11am on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. Robert's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
