Robert Polfus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Princess Anne Chapel on Jan. 7, 2026.
Robert E. Polfus, 89, passed away peacefully January 6, 2026. A devoted husband, father, Christian, and proud Navy veteran, Robert lived a life defined by service, faith, and love of family.
Raised in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18. He proudly served for 22 years and achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his military retirement, Robert continued his commitment to public service with 24 years in Federal Civil Service, embodying dedication and integrity throughout his professional life.
Robert was a man of strong Christian faith and served as an usher at St. Gregory the Great for many years. He was a true family man, deeply devoted to his beloved wife, Muriel Polfus, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. He was survived by his children-Robert, Rhonda, and Edward as well as his grandchildren-Dylan and Tucker Polfus and Travis and Tyler Herrod and great grandchildren-Owen and Everly Herrod. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Muriel, and son, lovingly known as "John John" whom he carried in his heart always.
Robert found joy in many hobbies throughout his life, including building models, fishing, tennis, bowling, and golf. A long-time armchair coach of the football team, the Washington Commanders, faithfully analyzing every game for more than 50 years.
Those who knew Robert will remember his steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to God and family. His life leaves a legacy of service, faith, and love that will continue through generations.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Monday, February 9, 2026 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Robert's extraordinary dedication to the military will then be celebrated with the committal service at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at 3pm.
Fair winds and following seas, Robert.
