Muriel Polfus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Princess Anne Chapel on Jan. 18, 2023.
Muriel Rose "Coyle," Polfus, 85, of Manhattan, New York, passed away on January 14th after a battle with many strokes.
Muriel was born on October 29, 1937 in Manhattan, New York. After high school, she landed her first job as a New York City telephone operator, where she would stay for two years. In 1958, she met the love of her life, Robert E Polfus, and they wed in June 1959. They were blessed to have four children, Robert, Rhonda, John, and Edward.
Muriel dedicated her life to being a fantastic and loving mother. Muriel excelled at motherhood, and was the foundation of the family. She was an excellent gift giver, always knew the right thing to say, never missed a special date, and always made sure everybody felt loved and welcomed. Whether it was supporting each child through life's challenges, she was the constant cheerleader and supporter.
Muriel was passionate about her faith and was always willing to share her Christian beliefs with everyone. She always had an open door for a good game of Chinese checkers or a place to stay.
Muriel was predeceased by her son, John John Polfus, and her sister, Diane Ritchie. She is survived by her husband, Robert, and her children, Bobby, Rhonda, and Eddie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dylan and Tucker Polfus, Travis and Tyler Herrod and her great grandchildren, Owen and Everly Herrod.
The family requests that donations be made to The Special Olympics in lieu of flowers. There will be a viewing to be held at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel on Tuesday, January 24th from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach on Wednesday the 25th at 11 AM followed by interment at Albert G Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
