Robert Lee Pope, of Troy, Montana passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Robert was born in Greeley, Colorado on December 16, 1935 to Alexander and Mollie Pope. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. In 1960 he married Dorothy Heinze. They had three children Karen, Bryan and Tricia. Robert was employed in various farming operations and at the Eastman Kodak Company. In 1994 Robert and Dorothy purchased a peach and cherry orchard in Palisade, Colorado. In 2024 Robert moved to Troy, Montana to be closer to his son, Bryan.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who put family above all else. Robert thoroughly enjoyed scenic drives, visiting with his numerous friends, growing his own fruits and vegetables, and mastering the art of grilling and smoking meats. Robert was always willing to lend a listening ear and offer advice. Pope's Orchard was Robert and Dorothy's pride and joy for 30 years. Many special friendships were made as a result of the orchard. He created a lifetime of cherished memories for all whose lives he has touched.
Robert is survived by his children Karen Falconburg (Jeff), Bryan Pope (Carrie) and Tricia Brady (Herb); grandchildren Jennifer Nettik (James), Kathy VanWert (Adam), Lauren Falconburg, and Leslie Wagner; and great granddaughters Elliott and Felicity Nettik. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, parents Alexander and Mollie Pope, and sister Helen Rau.
There will be a service on Monday, October 27, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at the Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Libby, MT. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
