Jerry Pope Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 15, 2025.
Jerry Pope, born in Marlboro, SC, and raised in Sandston, VA, went to be with the lord on October 10, 2025.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ida Pope; his amazing brothers and sisters, Katie Sligh (Beloved Gant Sligh), Shirley Crostic (Beloved Douglas), Patricia Powell (Harry), Ann Haislip, Wayne Pope, his twin, Larry Pope, Joe Pope, Alfred (Buddy) Pope, and Gene Pope.
He is survived by his brother, Clyde Pope (Roberta); his sisters, Naomi Harri and Dorothy Sligh (Beloved Otis); and he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was truly one of a kind. Him and his twin, Larry, had a love for speed; They loved any Corvette and motorcycle. Sadly, that need for speed caused an accident in Jerry's younger years, leaving him a life of seizures. But it didn't slow him down, it made him enjoy the finer things, like fishing, playing pool, and throwing darts. Jerry spent most of his life being a devoted brother. His brother Gene Pope was paralyzed at 24 and from that day on he took on the role of being a caretaker for him. Jerry enjoyed the simple things in life – getting out of the house and spending time with friends and family. He will be missed.
A graveside service will be held 3 PM, Thursday October 16, 2025, at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Drive, Sandston VA 23150. A reception will follow at Glendale Ruritan Club, 6188 Charles City Rd, Richmond, VA 23231. All are welcome to bring a dish, share a story, or embarrassing pictures.
Jerry is celebrating with his family and friends; he had lost a lot. #CancerSucks
