Robert Powers Obituary
November 19, 1951 - January 2, 2026
Robert Edward Powers, Jr., 74, of San Antonio, Texas, passed peacefully on January 2, 2026, following a battle with cancer.
Robert is survived by his wife, Caroline; son Michael and daughter-in-law Samantha; eight grandchildren: Gwyneth, Robert, Aidan, Tegan, Macsen, Aubrey, Declan, and Noelle; siblings: John (Elva), Cynthia (Larry Padron), and Kathleen (Herb DePoy).
A man of strength, determination, and quiet generosity who was not afraid to show emotion, Robert was the eldest child of an Air Force family, born at Otis Air Base in Massachusetts. After living in England, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Japan, the family settled in San Antonio in 1967, where he graduated from John Jay High School in 1969.
Robert built a remarkable construction career spanning five decades. He founded several construction companies and participated in transformative city projects, including the Alamo Iron Works demolition for the Alamodome.
Robert was committed to South Texas conservation, serving as a longtime member of the Coastal Conservation Association and as president of the San Antonio Quail Coalition. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing from Medina Lake to the Gulf Coast.
Robert leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to recognize and thank Jaime Torres and daughter Rebecca for their many years of dedication and loyalty.
Services: Wednesday, January 14th, 2:00 p.m., Christ Episcopal Church. Reception follows at The Argyle Club.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Coastal Conservation Association or San Antonio Quail Coalition.

My prayers and thoughts are with the entire Power´s family. I remember visiting Michael at Princeton University. Robert was so proud of him. Loved visiting with his sweet mom and the rest of the family too. He always had a big smile and greeted everyone. I am out of the country so can´t attend the service and celebration of his life. Treasure the fun memories we all had with Robert!!!
