Robert Pulley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral Home on Feb. 27, 2026.
Robert Lee Pulley, affectionately known as "Pulley", passed away on February 20, 2026 at UH Tripoint Hospital. He was born on May 15, 1939 in Wynne, Arkansas to the late Leroy Pulley Sr. and Rosie Lee (nee: Dent) Baker. His formative years were spent in St. Louis, where he graduated from Vashon High School. He later lived in California before settling in Painesville, where he raised his family. Pulley was a chemical operator at Lubrizol, and he retired from CEI where he worked as a stationary engineer. Pulley enjoyed traveling, attending his family reunions, watching sports and Westerns, and going to the casinos. "Robert enjoyed his family immensely; he loved telling his life story...on more than one occasion. Robert made a lasting impact on all who knew him. He never met a stranger because he truly loved talking to people. Though we will miss the familiar comfort of his stories, his legacy lives on in every life he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his voice will echo in our favorite memories forever."

He is survived by his wife, Wilma (nee: Martin) whom he married on June 24, 2004 in Las Vegas; his children, Rosalind Williams of Chester, VA, Cynthia (Ken) Hilliard of Painesville, OH, Carla (Emmanuel) Walker of Ft. Worth, TX, and Phoebe Whyte of Grapevine, TX; stepchildren, Ralph Martin, Robert Noble Jr., and Regina (Leon) Johnson all of Painesville, OH; 11 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; siblings, James Dillard of Painesville, OH, Michael Baker of Las Vegas, NV, Evelyn (Art) Giddings of St. Louis, MO, Barbara Walsh of Painesville, OH, Jessie Gaines of Houston, TX, Anita Martin of Painesville, OH, Marvin (Hope) Baker of Painesville, OH, and Leroy Pulley Jr. of Wynne, AK.

In addition to his parents, Pulley is preceded in death by his siblings, Dwight Baker, Larry Baker, and Pearl Washington; and his previous wife, Elsie (Stokley) Pulley.

Friends will be received on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at New Hope Baptist Church, 4428 W. Jackson St., Painesville, Ohio 44077, from 9:00am until the funeral service at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
