Robert "Q" Quarterman, Sr., was born in Savannah, Georgia, to Ruthie Mae Quarterman and Willie Johnson. He later gained a loving stepfather, Harvey Gray. He adored all his parents deeply, and each preceded him in death. Robert had seven siblings and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and in- laws.
Robert married Traci Longley in 1988, and together they walked through life for 37 years. Through their love endured, strengthened, and remained constant. They built a family he cherished deeply.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Traci Quarterman, Ada and his three children: Christopher Quarterman (Erica Pogue), Atoka, OK; Robert Quarterman II (Yahonna Quarterman), Summer Set, KY; and Carissa Quarterman (and his "grand-dog" Cookie Ann),
Ada, OK He was blessed with seven beautiful granddaughters who knew just how to tug at his heart with, "Granddad, will you buy me…?": Audryanna Quarterman (Baby Unique), Nevaeh Quarterman, Nakenzie Quarterman (Green-eyed Bandit), LaRiaha Quarterman, Aamina Logan (His Birthday Month Twin), Amiah Quarterman, and Eleah Quarterman.
And at last, he received the grandson he had always hoped for: Zakye Quarterman, who he loved to brag about, often saying with a grin, "That boy is just too fast for me."
Robert graduated from Byng High School in 1983. His passion was purchasing records, making mix tapes, and DJing in his early years. Then cooking led him into kitchens where he could share his gifts with family and friends.
He began as a cook at McDonald's and went on to refine his skills at Bandanas, Doc's Barbecue, and Interurban Restaurant. His dedication, talent, and pride made him exceptional in every kitchen he touched. Afterwards, he worked for Evergreen Mills before finding his true home at Flex-N-Gate, where he proudly served as a forklift driver where he worked 20 years.
Those who knew Robert knew his unwavering devotion to the Georgia Bulldogs. He watched every game and if he had to work, he would ask Traci why she didn't record the game for him. He remained a faithful fan throughout his life-truly a Georgia BullDAWG for LIFE.
Robert found joy in many things, especially in the adventures he embraced later in life. He traveled on a Bahamas cruise, visited a Jamaican resort, and journeyed on a Caribbean cruise. In Mexico, he faced his fears with courage-zip-lining, snorkeling, and exploring the Xcambó Mayan Ruins.
Forever loved forever near and every sunbeam soft clear.
