Robert Ransdell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nie Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. - Liberty Road Chapel on Feb. 7, 2026.
Robert Lee Ransdell, Jr., passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Saline, Michigan after a well-fought battle with early-onset dementia. Rob is survived by his wife, Amy (Fichera) Ransdell; his children, Joanna (Scott Van de Vyver) Ransdell and Davis Ransdell; his sisters, Linda (Steve) Wilmoth, Bonnie (Bryan) Sawyer and Julie (Frank) Flynn; as well as a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews.

Rob was a devoted family man, and his greatest joy was watching Joanna and Davis perform their music. Rob was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to Bob and Betty Ransdell on December 2, 1960. Cheering for U of M basketball was a favorite pastime (Go Blue!). An avid golfer, biker and skier, Rob added pickleball to his activities in recent years. Rob graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a business degree in marketing.

The best part of his time in Ypsilanti was meeting and marrying the love of his life, Amy. Rob excelled in sales and training and worked in the dental field for 30 years. He often traveled for business and tried to never be too far from a golf course or bike path. The family is grateful for the support of family and friends as Rob's memory and quality of life declined.

The family would like to thank the caring staff in the Memory Care unit at Linden Square and the compassionate staff of Optimal Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Forest Golf Club. Donations in his honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter or Optimal Care Hospice based in Jackson, MI.
