Minerva Ransdell Obituary

Minerva Jean "Jeanne" Ransdell

August 13, 1939 - November 7, 2025

Lexington, Kentucky - Minerva Jean "Jeanne" Ransdell, 86, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2025.

Born and raised in Huntington, WV, Jeanne moved to Kentucky shortly after graduating from high school and forever called it home. Jeanne earned her Bachelors degree from the University of Kentucky and later her Masters degree at Western Kentucky University.

Jeanne lived a life centered around love, learning, family and serving others. A lifelong teacher, she inspired generations of students with her patience, kindness, and belief that everyone had something special to offer. Her classroom extended far beyond the school walls, to her home, church, and community where she welcomed all those who needed warmth, guidance, or a listening ear.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George William "Bill" Ransdell II (Gaggy). She is survived by her children Andy Wallace (Julia), Craig Wallace (Kimberly Young), and George William "Bill" Ransdell III (Deidre), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Cassie, Brendan, Brady, Cameron, Conor, Lauryn, Larsen, Mason, Tanner, Jonah and her great grandchildren Cedrych, Beckett, Lillian, Hayes, Hudson, Andi, George, Wyatt, Bowen and Lucy Jean her namesake. Each of which brought her immense pride and happiness.

To her family and friends, she was more than a mother and grandmother. She provided shelter to all who showed up on her doorstep as a steady presence and a source of endless encouragement. Her love filled every room, her generosity touched every heart, and her legacy of compassion and strength will live on through those she loved and touched.

Our family wants to personally thank the incredible team of care givers of Sayre Christian Village for the love and care they graciously provided our mother.

A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held in Lexington, KY at Milward - Southland, 391 Southland Drive on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness and passing love forward in her memory. This is the truest reflection of how she lived her life.

Meeting and working with Jeanne at Hardin Central was an uplifting delight. Boys, we heard all about you and your experiences- with her. A source of entertainment. Just recently I wondered about her. She and Bill were made for each other. Know she had to be the ultimate grandmother. In my thoughts-Joan
