Robert D. "Bob" Rathbun, 81, well-known resident of
Canton, PA passed away at his residence on Friday, January 16, 2026, while surrounded by the love of his family. Robert Dean was born March 11, 1944, in Blossburg, a son of the late Alva "Dean" and Doris (Morgan) Rathbun. He attended Canton area schools and was a graduate of the class of 1962. On April 3, 1965, Bob married the former Shirley Storrs in Canton. Together they shared 60 years of devoted marriage and raised two sons.
Shortly following high school, Bob worked for a time at Landon's Cedar Ledge. He later was employed by the Avco Corporation in Williamsport for several years until establishing Rathbun Veal & Beef Farms and Rathbun Veal Trucking located in Canton Township. Bob saw to the daily operations of the farm and drove truck as well for many years until retiring in 2011.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer and turkey hunter. Most important in Bob's life was family gatherings and the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren who affectionally knew him as, "Pop Pop".
Bob leaves behind; his loving wife, Shirley Rathbun, sons, Scott (Melissa) Rathbun of Canton, Kevin (Lindsay) Rathbun of Boiling Springs, PA, grandchildren, Katie, Trent, Garren, Liam, Tripp and Wylan, siblings, Joyce Knuutila of Gastonia, NC, Marilyn (Dean) Smiley and Ralph (Donna) Rathbun all of Granville Summit, sisters-in-law, Dawn Rathbun of Troy and Phyllis Beck of Canton, several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents and grandparents, William and Belle Morgan and Eva Rathbun, Bob was predeceased by; a brother, Leon Rathbun, brothers-in-law, Larry Knuutila, William "Bill" Beck and a nephew, Nate Case.
The family invites friends to call Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr.
Canton, PA. A funeral service to honor Bob's life will immediately follow at 1p.m. Burial will be held in the Beech Flats Cemetery, Canton Township.
