Robert Ray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Oct. 1, 2025.
Robert "Bobby" Earl Ray, born in Chicago, IL, on July 24, 1970, to Carolyn A. Robinson and Robert L. Ray, peacefully passed away during slumber on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Independence, MO, at the age of 54.
Bobby was a graduate of J.C. Harmon High School in Kansas City, KS. He launched his business, B. Ray Entertainment, LLC, which focused on supporting those with a shared passion in dance and performing arts.
Bobby was passionate about philanthropy and gave much of his time to the City in Motion organization, as well as volunteering to support Indigenous tribes in Oklahoma.
His faith in Jesus Christ was clear when he decided to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in August of 2021. His faith walk was one that he relied on, and he had a firm belief in the love of his Creator and that he would one day be reunited with not only his loved ones but his heavenly Father.
Bobby is survived by his daughters Tatiana Ray, Summer Dunbar, and sons (with former spouse, Amber Kenison) Marquis Kenison and D'ante Ray; his grandchildren, Triston, Alora, Gavin, Kendyl, Parrish, Mia and Oliver, his fathers, Robert L. Ray and Wayne L. Robinson, Sr., and his brothers, Kenneth Robinson, Wayne Lamar Jr., his sister, Alishia Hubbard, his uncles, Kenneth Wayne Milton Sr. and Harrison "Rock" Milton, his aunts, Aunt Ruth (Margaret Smith Adams) and Catherine "Tia" Milton, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn A. Robinson.
A celebration of his life will be held on August 4, 2025. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Monday, August 4, at Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS. Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery at 4101 State Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102.
Contributions may be made in his honor at Highland Park Funeral Home.
