Send FlowersNorma Jean Ray, 85 of Shelbyville passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Ashford Place in Shelbyville.
Born on May 30, 1940, in Hope Indiana she was the daughter of Irene (Cowin) Sanders.
Survivors include 4 children- Todd W. Ray (Corie) of Indianapolis, Joe Leone (Rita) of Illinois, Carmella Russell of Shelbyville, Michael Leone (Mary Ann) of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Katherine Russell, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and son in law David Russell.
Norma was a lifetime resident of this area and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1958. She worked in production at GE/Wellman Thermal Systems for 20 years, retiring from there. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Norma loved animals, especially birds and dogs, and had a very deep faith in Christ. Norma and her niece Sonia loved attending flea markets together.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway Street, Shelbyville with Rev. Mike Keucher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00an until
12:00 noon at the Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby Co Library, St. Joseph Building Repair Fund or Shelbyville/Shelby Co. Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
