Robert Reel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Nov. 21, 2025.
Robert Carroll "Bob" Reel, 93, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Carroll and Anna Conway Reel. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Elizabeth Reel, with whom he shared a devoted and loving marriage.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert K. Reel and wife Faye; his sister, Jeanie Hughes; and his brother, Richard "Buddy" Reel and wife Barbara. Bob will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Jessica Sykes and Robert Reel; his four great-grandchildren, Shane, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, and Lauren; his two great-great-grandchildren, Kade and Isaac; and several nieces and a nephew who loved him dearly.
A proud quarterback of Portlock High School, class of 1949, Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as part of Army Special Intelligence, stationed in the Philippines. Following his service, Bob enjoyed a long career as a paint salesman with Roundtree Paint Company and later Glidden Paint Company, until retirement. Even then, he remained active, investing in rental properties and repairing commercial paint sprayers from his cherished workshop.
Bob was a faithful member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church for much of his life, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an avid bowler for over 60 years, serving as president of the Norfolk Bowling Association, and he also enjoyed golfing with friends and family. In his younger years, he was honored to serve as Master of the Indian River Masonic Lodge.
His family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on December 1, 2025 from 1-2 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will begin immediately following at 2 p.m. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for continued fellowship in the reception center. Robert will be laid to rest privately at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
