Robert Lee Richardson
September 14, 1930 - January 16, 2026
Robert (Bob) Lee Richardson, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, in
Arvada, Colorado. Bob was born on September 14, 1930, in
Hebron, Nebraska to Harley and Dorothy Richardson. He was the second oldest of eight siblings: Gene, Carolyn, Don, Janet, Gary, John and William.
Bob spent his younger years in and around Hebron. He graduated from Hebron High School and participated in team sports including football and basketball. Bob married his hometown sweetheart, Shirley JoAnn Doehring on September 11, 1955, in Hebron. Soon after their marriage, Bob and Shirley moved to Colorado where Bob accepted a position with Coors Porcelain Company in Golden, Colorado, and soon thereafter established their family home in
Arvada, Colorado.
While living in Arvada, Bob and Shirley welcomed three children to the family, Judy, Jim and Jon. Bob dedicated his life to Shirley and the children and was very proud of them and the home he provided for his family. Bob was very involved in his children's activities, especially those revolving around sports. He spent many evenings and weekends shuffling kids to and from practice and games. Fortunately, all of his children enjoyed playing sports and his involvement resulted in him being their biggest fan, cheerleader and coach!
Bob enjoyed a variety of sports himself. He bowled for many years, began running decades ago, enjoyed a good game of golf and attending high school sporting events. He was a quiet but somewhat fierce competitor and his accomplishments in running were many. Bob ran marathons, reached the top of Mount Evans, Pikes Peak and placed in his age group in several running races around the Denver Metropolitan area. His desire to run also gave him the ability to climb to the top of Longs Peak in the summertime. Bob always enjoyed a very early morning round of golf with friends at the Riverdale Golf Course. Over the years and the countless number of rounds of golf he played, Bob would never use a golf cart. He always said "It's not golf if you don't walk!"
Bob and Shirley lived in
Arvada, Colorado for many years. After the children were grown and both Bob and Shirley were retired, they moved to Brighton, Colorado in 1997 where they spent their remaining years enjoying a somewhat slower pace of life. Card games and dominoes with friends and family, a jigsaw puzzle on the dining room table, and reruns of The Andy Griffith Show and old westerns were Dad's favorite pastimes.
Bob is survived by his daughter Judy, sons Jim and Jon; five grandchildren, Michael (Jordan), Tara (Jonathan), Rachel (Brandon), Kelsie, and Cody (Seaera); and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn and Janet, two brothers, John and William (Kay) and a large extended family he cared for deeply. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, one grandson, Josh, his parents Harley and Dorothy, and three brothers, Gene, Don and Gary.
