Robert Rini Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMahon - Coyne - Vitantonio Funeral Home - Mentor on Jan. 30, 2026.
Funeral Mass for Robert A. Rini, 84, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor.

Robert passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026.

He was born July 26, 1941, in Cleveland.

Robert was a devoted father and grandfather, a gifted professional, and an all-around good man who was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed help. He lived a life marked by curiosity, generosity, and quiet skill in many areas.

He served on the boards of the New Atlantis Club and the St. Francis Association, giving his time and energy to organizations he cared deeply about. He was an avid reader and enjoyed staying active, whether playing racquetball or taking long walks with his beloved dog. He especially loved his Mustang, which reflected both his appreciation for craftsmanship and his lifelong love of cars.

Professionally, Robert was highly respected for his knowledge and integrity. He taught accounting classes at CSU, where he enjoyed mentoring and guiding students. He also worked as a Controller for Mr. Coffee and Minute Men, bringing both expertise and dedication to his work.

Robert was remarkably talented with his hands. When his children were young, he fixed cars, remodeled kitchens and bathrooms, and tackled projects with confidence and care-always focused on providing for his family. Above all, he was a loving father and grandfather who took pride in his family and the life he built.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the many ways he made life better for those around him. Robert will be deeply missed.

Robert was the beloved husband for 61 years to Janet (nee D'Amato) Rini; loving father of Dana (John) Rini Vrhovnik, Michele (John) Rini Petrello and Robin Rini; cherished grandfather of Devan (Jeff)(nee Hennig) Stoerkel, Kyle Hennig, Alexis Hennig, Dominique (Nick) (nee Hall) Mysyk and Gabrielle Hall; great-grandfather of Oliver Stoerkel and Lucy Stoerkel; and brother-in-law of Denise Wild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael P. and Cecelia (nee Marcinko) Rini.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., Mentor.

Donations in Robert's name may be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.

We were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was always a very pleasant man to talk with, and one who truly enjoyed spending many hours in his huge garden in the backyard. I will never forget the time he showed me his pumpkin tree with a pumpkin hanging from the top of it. Please accept our deepest sympathy in his passing.

I was so sorry to hear about Bob. He was a great gentleman.
I want to encourage the family to look to the God of Peace, who is able to give you that "Perfect Peace," in this most difficult time of sadness. May He comfort you in the days ahead as you remember the life of a great man.

Mrs. Rini and family

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Rini´s passing. You were wonderful neighbors to me and my family for many years and I will never forget Mr. Rini teasing me about getting a job for years and the times I walked a couple of your dogs when I was younger. I always looked forward to seeing him outside when I lived at the Arrowood Ct neighborhood growing up until we moved around 2 years after my mom´s unexpected passing. Robin, thank you for always keeping me up to date on your parents when we found each other on Facebook. My heart will always be with you all. He´s now reunited with my parents and I can only imagine the craziness that´s going on up there.

Alicia Bellante, (Donald and Antonette (Toni) Bellante`s youngest daughter.)
