Robert Rockwell Obituary
Mercersburg, PA.
Born September 12, 1931 in Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Otha and Bessie Hohman
Rockwell.
Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from Letterkenny
Army Depot as a supervisor in the carpentry department. On November 7, 1986 Bob married
Thelma Leininger Locke He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and spending time with his
grandchildren and family.
Bob attended the Maple Grove Church of God. Bob was a member of the St. Thomas American
Legion, and Life member of the V.F.W.
Bob is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Thelma Rockwell, two stepsons, Roger (Angela) Lock Sr.,
and Darrel (Melinda) Locke, and nieces, Cheryl Christman, Debbie McDaniels, Nina (Greg)
Wilson, Bobbie Kopch, and Patti Miller.
Bob was preceded in death by his adopted son, Robert F. Rockwell and stepdaughter Tammy
Tyeryar, a brother, Harry Rockwell, two sisters, Louise Oyler and Nancy Hocker, a niece, and two nephew-in-laws, Linus Christman, and Merle McDaniels
A funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Fries Funeral Home in
Mercersburg with Pastor David Pine officiating. There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the
service and military graveside honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, before
the committal service.
