Robert Charles "RJ" Rogers

Robert Charles (R.J.) Rogers Jr, passed from this life into the presence of his Saviour in eternity on Sunday July 20th, 2025 at 90 years of age in the comfort of his home in Okahumpka, Florida. R.J. was born on March 11th, 1935 in Lacoochee, Florida to Lillie Mae and Charles Wayne Rogers. After growing up in Ybor city, R.J. moved back to Center Hill where he married his childhood sweetheart, Marguerite Strickland, on July 23rd, 1954 at Tuscanooga Baptist Church. He served his country in the National Guard for several years. Together, R.J. and Marguerite raised their three daughters and touched the lives of countless people as they followed the Lord's call into ministry. They successfully pastored First Missionary Baptist Church of Mascotte, St. Catherine Missionary Baptist Church, and interim pastored several other churches with God's help and guidance. R.J.'s life was completely transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a young man, and the Lord used his life to preach that Gospel and share God's love to many, he was blessed to lead countless people to faith in Jesus throughout his life. R.J. was a man whose life was marked by love, God's love. He loved to fish, he loved to keep a garden, he loved to build and repair things with his hands. He loved the cabin they built on Dream Mountain, NC where many summers of memories were made. But above all of that, he loved people. The greatest treasures in his life were his precious wife, family, and the people he got to pastor and minister to throughout the years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marguerite Rogers, his parents, Lillie Mae and Charles Wayne Rogers, and brother Herman Rogers. He leaves behind his three children, Joyce (Cliff) Johnson, Kay (Donnis) Mixon, and Carol Cato. His six grandchildren, Josh (Jaqi) Hayes, Jerry Hayes, Isaac (Amy) Johnson, Amy (Matt) Robbins, Cameron Cato and Daniel Cato. And his four great grandchildren, Charlotte and Russell Johnson, and Jett and Jasper Hayes His Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, July 25th, 2025 at Tuscanooga Baptist Church. The viewing will begin at 11 am and the service will start at 12 with internment and a meal to follow. Pastor Casey Ferguson and Pastor Ed Button will be officiating.
