ROBERT D. "BOB" ROLLEFSON

ROBERT D. "BOB" ROLLEFSON, 88, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at his home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main Street in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Merritt Demski will officiate. Visitation with the family present will take place an hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be held at a later date. Military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Post #2253 and the Cherokee American Legion.

Bob was born on April 11, 1937 to Lawrence and Alice (Streck) Rollefson at Schleswig, Iowa. He attended Schleswig School and received his GED in 1965. He was united in marriage to Janice Christensen on June 10, 1956 at Ida Grove, Iowa. He enlisted in the National Guard and served from 1954 until 1960 and again from 1974 until 1981.

He owned Bob's TV in Holstein and then sold and went to Trinidad College for Engraving and Gun Smithing and became a master engraver. He also drove school bus for Holstein, Anthon, and Cherokee School Districts. He retired in 2014.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa and was a member of the V.F.W.

In his free time, he loved to go hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing. He was an artist and talented oil painter.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Alice Rollefson.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Janice Rollefson of Cherokee, Iowa; son Jerry and Korray Rollefson of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter Donna and Robert Zahnley of Cherokee, Iowa; two grandchildren Jason Zahnley and Alicia Rollefson; four great grandchildren Zayda, Jalayna, Maija Zahnley , and Kurtice Rollefson; brother Gene and Diane Rollefson of Sioux City, Iowa.
