Robert T. Rooney, 84 a lifelong resident of Ridley Park, died on January 29, 2026 at his home.
Robert graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1959 before pursuing further studies and earning a master's degrees from Temple University and Drexel University. In his professional life, Robert was employed as the Director of the Temple Medical Library at Temple University for many years before his retirement in 2003.
Outside of his professional achievements, Robert was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, and movies. He loved all types of music, and he enjoyed trips to Stone Harbor and Wildwood, NJ. Additionally, Robert was a fan of NASCAR and found joy in his hobbies, which included short wave radio and photography. He cherished his family above all else, and his most treasured moments were those spent with his beloved grandchildren
Robert was the loving husband of the late Margaret M. McCarthy Rooney, father of James W. Rooney (Tara) and the late Sharon M. Rooney, grandfather of Colleen K. Rooney, James R. Rooney (Kaylee Opperman), and Shannon K. Rooney, great-grandfather of Bradley Rooney, and brother of the late James T. Rooney (Dorothy Rooney).
Funeral Service 11 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 10 AM. Burial private.
