Robert Rose Obituary

Robert L. Rose, affectionately known as Bob, was born on February 7, 1933, in Newport, Kentucky. He departed this world peacefully at home in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family on September 23, 2024. Bob lived a generous and kind life, marked by his unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his community.

He devoted 35 successful years to Western and Southern, where he built enduring friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. Bob was not only a dedicated worker but also a proud husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.

A proud Army veteran, Bob was drafted during the Korean War, spending a year and a half in Alaska.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob had a green thumb and a passion for gardening. He took pride in nurturing his flowers and trees, even participating in a Master Gardener’s program, sharing his knowledge and love of nature with others. He was a skilled handyman who enjoyed tackling home improvement projects, always willing to lend a hand, especially at church. Bob's love for woodworking fostered his creative spirit, which he enjoyed expressing through various projects.

In retirement, Bob and his beloved wife of 64 years, Annette Rose (née Pettit), embarked on numerous travels together. They reveled in the beauty of the British Isles, explored the western landscapes of the United States, and engaged in elder hostels across the country, creating unforgettable memories.

Bob's impact extended beyond his personal interests; he made significant contributions to his community, evidenced by his role as a Sunday school teacher. He was also a proud Mason.

Robert is survived by his cherished family: his wife, Annette Rose; sons, David (Becky) Rose and Daniel (Polly) Rose; grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Hoffman, Christina Rose, Stephanie (Brian) Graham, Allie Rose, and Matthew Rose; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ora Rose; mother, Alta Rose (née Johnson); sister, Jewel Rettew; and brothers, Paul Rose and Fred Rose.

A visitation to celebrate his life will be held on October 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018, followed by a memorial service at the same location from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A graveside service will take place later that day at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097, beginning at 2:00 PM.

Bob Rose's legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories of his family and friends.
