MORTON– Robert C. “Bob” Routt, 76, of Morton, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
He was born on April 3, 1947, in Peoria, to Henry and Eleanor (Stevens) Routt. Bob married Valerie Smith on April 27, 1991, in Groveland.
Surviving are his wife, Valerie Routt of Morton; step-daughter, Jennifer (Matt) Ringer of Muscle Shoals, AL; granddaughter, Paige Ringer; sister, Margaret (Richard) Bull of Canton; brothers, Dennis (Peggy) Routt of Missouri and Jim (Mindy) Butler of Farmington, Ill.; step-brother, Jeff (Debbie) Malmgren of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Routt; mother and step-father, Eleanor and Earl Malmgren; and sister Kem Butler.
Bob is a United States Army veteran having served from 1966 to 1972.
He graduated from Manual High School in 1965, where he was a star football player. Bob was inducted into the Manual Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
He retired from Caterpillar in 2005.
Bob was a devoted family man, who deeply loved his family.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 318 in Morton, St. Jude Runners’ Association or Susan G. Komen Foundation in Peoria.
