Robert Phillip RUBENSTEIN

Age 98 Passed away peacefully at his home on July 23 surrounded by loved ones. Preceded in death by wives, Jean, Marice Halper; son, Paul and daughter-in-law Carol Andersen. Survived by children, Bill Rubenstein, Wendy & Steve Rubin, Laurie Vender & Stephen Halper; grandchildren, Isabel (Bryce), William (Anna Anubhuti), Olive, Scott (Jodi), Jacy (Jason), Jessica and Nick; great-grandchildren, Karlie, Rhylie, Jack, Julia, Mariella, Paige, Samantha, Carly and Sasha; brothers-in-law, Bill Weiller and Bill Lipschultz, constant companion Gretta Freeman and many loving nieces and nephews. Bobby valued his family above all else, and the orbit of his family extended without limits. He had many lifelong friends who cared for him and for whom he cared deeply. A true son of Minnesota, Bobby was raised on the North Side of Minneapolis and attended the U of M before Army service in WWII. He dressed Minnesotans for decades in outerwear and fine apparel at Robb's Clothing and elsewhere. Passionate for golf, he could always be found hitting the links at Hillcrest or Oak Ridge Country Clubs with old friends and accumulating new ones – and in the winter in Rancho Mirage with Marice. They lived a "charmed life," as they would say, traveling the world and meeting new friends. His last years with Gretta were wonderful and they were always admired by residents of Laurel Apartments in Golden Valley. Our heartfelt thanks to his caregivers Lacey and her team: Angela and Malia, and particularly Brent, with whom he established a special bond.
