Robert E. “Bob” Russell, 94, of Raymond, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bob had a strong work ethic, quick wit, and ornery sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and he had a knack for fixing just about anything. A 1947 graduate of Raymond High School, he was an Ironworker with Local 172 in Columbus, and was their oldest living member. He was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Lodge No. 303 F. & A.M., a longtime member and elder of the Millcreek Church of Christ, and a founding member of the Liberty Township Fire Department.
Born September 3, 1929 in Delaware, he was the son of the late Otis Claire and Hazel (Bushong) Russell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Russell and daughter-in-law, Mary Russell.
On June 12, 1950 in Liberty, IN, he married his wife of over 74 years, Alice (Orahood) Russell, and she survives in Raymond. He is also survived by his children, Stan (Teresa) Russell, Jeff Russell, Gail (Bill) Meddles and Bev (Tim) Turner; grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Cool, Casey (Amy) Russell, Yolanda Russell, Stacey McLean, Shawn Russell, Seth Stock, Olivia Peppard, Emily (Doug) Robinson, Jacob (Jackie) Meddles, Zach (Lisa) Hamm, Rob and Nick Turner, and Matt (Jessie) Turner; great grandchildren, Austin (Hannah) Cool, Allison (Joel) Spencer, Camden and Kenleigh Russell, Jaymeson Pettengill,Madison McLean, Paisley Magaleno, Tristan Peppard, Owen Peppard, Waylon Franco, Derek (Stacy) Robinson, Joe (Logan) Robinson, Grace and Jade Meddles, and Zachary and Evelyn Hamm; great-great grandchildren, Warren and Averie Robinson; a sister, Grace Ann Kleiber; and a brother-in-law, Tim (Yvonne) Orahood; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his church family.
Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville where a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Services to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Millcreek Church of Christ 24956 Lunda Rd. Raymond. Jack Knox will officiate and burial will take place at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Millcreek Church of Christ building fund.
