MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Robert P. Salvatore, 68, formerly of Cheshire, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 31, 2022 at his home in South Carolina.
He was born September 9, 1954 to the late Frank and Josephine (Alvarez) Salvatore. He graduated from Cheshire High School in 1972 and the University of New Haven in 1976.
Bobby had always been a family-man. He was a loving son, brother to Frank (Sheila) Salvatore, cousin, uncle, and nephew in the Salvatore and Alvarez families. He worked from a young age at his family’s hometown store and cider mill, the Notch Store. Most people knew him as a staple there; stocking shelves in his younger days, jugging-up the cider around back, playing cards, having coffee on the deck, and always talking (loudly) with friends and passersby. Others remember that Bobby spent most of his life on the ice; at Tucker Pond, at Mixville, for Cheshire High School, for the University of New Haven, and then again in his “old man” league; that #8 hockey jersey never went out of style. His teammates and friends knew they were on the winning team with Bobby. More friends were lucky to know Bobby as their agent, as he was the former owner of W.J. Burton Insurance Agency. And during his retirement these last few years, plus, well, a few more years before that, Bobby really enjoyed a good (or bad) round of golf with his friends.
Bobby was also a one-of-a-kind dad to his three daughters, Alicia Salvatore Francisco (Joseph), Jenna Harper, and Jessica Stewart (Brian). He could be found at soccer games, baseball games, volleyball games, took them on vacations, gave the best advice, walked them down the aisle, and was the best “papa” to his three grandchildren Makayla Harper, Tyler Harper, and Jayden Robert Francisco. The memories they created throughout their lifetime will fill them with Bobby’s love forever. Also part of Bobby’s life story are ex-wife Vincie Salvatore and extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Arrangements: Bobby had many “coined phrases” throughout his years. Friends are welcome to celebrate his “beautiful story” of life and greet Bobby’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. There will also be a Funeral mass on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 10:00 am, at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish / St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Cheshire Food Pantry.
