Robert Scherf Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. on Dec. 29, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert H. Scherf, our loving and devoted father, grandfather, partner, and friend to all whom he touched. Bob passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 27, 2025. He was 83 years old.
Born May 28, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Bob was the son of the late Howard and Elizabeth (Jansch) Scherf. He graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School and went on to serve his country with pride in the Army National Guard. Throughout his career at New York Telephone (NYNEX), Bob held many roles, including serving as a dedicated shop steward for CWA Local 1120.
A lifelong member of the Black Rock Hunting and Fishing Club, Bob found great joy in the outdoors. He was also a passionate and outspoken fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Linda Stureski; his children, Jason and Tracy Scherf, Matthew (Mackenzie) Scherf, Erin and Damon Brodhead, Michael and Karen Stureski, Niki and Nicole Stureski; and his sister, Joan DeVos. He was also survived by Kyle Lyons who was fondly thought of as a son.
Bob was a proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren: Jesse, Cheyenne, Josiah, and Miranda Scherf; Nevin and Noah Scherf; Camdyn and Caitlynn Brodhead; Brady, Carly, and Wesley Stureski. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Colton, Brinley, and one on the way, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his brothers, Randall and Lawrence, and his granddaughter, Ava.
The family will receive friends at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 US 9W, Marlboro, NY 12542, from 4 PM to 6 PM on Friday, January 2, 2025. A prayer service will immediately follow.
