Robert Scheuerman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home on Apr. 21, 2026.
Robert E. Scheuerman

February 7, 1940 – April 20, 2026

Robert E. Scheuerman, aged 86, passed away on April 20, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of the family that meant everything to him.

A Life of Quiet Pride

Born in Chicago on February 7, 1940, Robert was a man defined by a steady, quiet pride-a quality that anchored his life and inspired those around him. He found satisfaction in the precision of his craft, the comfort of his home, and the growth of his family.

Robert was a proud member of the IBEW Local 134 for over 65 years. He approached his trade with the same integrity he brought to every other facet of his life, viewing his work not just as a profession, but as a vital contribution to his community and a means to provide a beautiful life for those he loved.

Family Legacy

Above all, Robert's greatest source of pride was his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Judith, with whom he built a lifetime of enduring memories and shared devotion. Throughout their marriage, Robert also found great companionship and joy in the five Labrador Retrievers he raised and loved over the years.

He was the cherished father of:

- Karen Bircher (and the late Larry Bircher)

- Gail Sopron and her husband, John

- Todd Scheuerman and his wife, Jennifer

He was also the proud grandfather of Katie Williams and her husband, Jaime. Robert was a fond uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth, his father Elmer, his brother Elmer, and his son-in-law Larry.

Robert's legacy lives on in the home he meticulously cared for and the family that was his greatest joy. He will be remembered as a man of few words but immense impact-a pillar of strength who found fulfillment in the simple, honest successes of a life well-lived.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home, 435 North York Street, Elmhurst. The family will receive friends and guests beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Guiding Eyes for the Blind, as these were two of Robert's favorite charities.
